The ballot box results are in regarding Thom Morton's 'SPAR Plastic Bag Initiative for 2018'.

Thom Morton is pleased to announce that you voted overwhelmingly for the installation of 2 wooden commemorative seats to be placed at the War Memorial on the High Street.

This will be part of the centenary anniversary commemorations to mark the end of The Great War, and which will be part of Tattenhall's 'Armistice Event' scheduled for 11 November 2018.

Thom was keen to emphasise that the nominations and letters of support were split between the installation of metal and wooden commemorative seating but that the latter won the day by a 'landslide'. Those who nominated the installation of 'wooden benches' felt that the wooden seating was sympathetic to Defra environmental principles and, importantly, would not detract from the Memorial itself.

In second place were nominations regarding the Croquet Club. Thom's generosity knows no bounds, and (in addition) he has decided to donate £500 to the Croquet Club to part-assist in the installation of appropriate fencing as a best-fit to their location.

The volume of plastic bags and plastics generally has never been more high profile. For those of you that are new to Tattenhall or who didn't pick up on this feature previously, SPAR charges 5p for single-use plastic carrier bags. This action is purely voluntary on the part of SPAR and, following Defra's guidelines on the deduction of reasonable costs, SPAR Tattenhall donates all the proceeds to good causes, particularly environmental causes.
