The Sandstone Ridge Festival comes to the Barbour Institute, Tattenhall, on Sunday 21st May.

At 11.30am, the winners of the 'Peter Wheeler Writing Competition' will be announced and prizes will be awarded.

From 1.00pm until 6.00pm the Exhibition of the superb artwork of Kim Atkinson will be on display in the Barbour Institute. Kim was commissioned by The Sandstone Ridge Trust to record the Ridge in her unique style.

Also from 1.00pm, The Sandstone Ridge Trust is pleased to announce the publication of its new book entitled 'The Ridge: Rocks and Springs – A Sandstone Legacy' which seeks to record how sandstone and water have shaped the beautiful landscape of the Sandstone Ridge – copies will be available at the Barbour Institute.

From 2.00pm, Andrew Hull (Chair of The Sandstone Ridge Trust) will also be speaking. His talk entitled 'The Sandstone Ridge – Past, Present and Future' will explore the sustainable management and protection of the Ridge and identify the ways in which this might be delivered.

And then at 6.30pm, also in the Barbour, the final event of the Festival takes place. In 'Whattalife', singer and actress, Lucy Stevens, tells the story of the great English contralto, Kathleen Ferrier, from her debut as a singer in 1940, her meteoric rise and her tragic death in 1953. Lucy Stevens has researched and created a unique and totally engaging performance. The play is written in Kathleen's own words taken from her letters and diaries. Sung music from her repertoire is woven through the text.

Tickets will be available on the door
