Holocaust Survivor and author of 'Last Train to Tomorrow', Lady Milena Grenfell-Baines MBE, will speak of her experience on Saturday 20th May, 1.00pm-2.00pm at St.Oswald's Church, Malpas.
One of the 669 children saved by Sir Nicholas Winton during the second world war in Czechoslovakia, Lady Milena will give one of her amazing talks that are nationally and internationally recognized. Make sure you attend this "once in a lifetime" event.
Lady Milena was born in Czechoslovakia in 1929. Her father was recommended to leave Czechoslovakia the day before the Nazis invaded because he was both Jewish and a supporter of an anti-Nazi author. He was able to escape but left his wife and children behind.
When she was nine years old, Lady Milena and her younger sister Eva were able to leave Prague on the last Winton train. Lady Milena and her sister were cared for by a local family in our area until their mother was able to arrive one year later, having escaped via Norway. The family were thus all reunited unlike many others.
All Under 18s FREE and Adults £5. Refreshments served.
