On Monday evening (4th Nov) Councillors Jones, White, Sadler-Williams and Blackhurst attended the Best Kept Village Awards Ceremony for Cheshire Warrington and Halton at the Civic Hall in Ellesmere Port where Tattenhall received three prestigious awards.

The competition had involved over 30 towns and villages. Our first award, the 'Little Gem' award was presented for the wonderful ironwork sculptures of 'George' the war horse, and the Poppy Wreath with the initials of each fallen soldier from Tattenhall. These sculptures are situated by the War Memorial and were said to be 'an outstanding feature in the Village'. We would once again like to thank Andy Smith for producing these wonderful sculptures commemorating the Great War 1914 to 1918.

We were then presented with the Cheshire Community Action 'Les George Memorial' award for our wonderful playground installed 2 years ago. It was judged on the use and enjoyment of the play equipment, the quality of the area, and the community involvement during the design and fundraising process. It was noted that it was free from litter and dog fouling.

Thank you to the hard working group of 'Mums' that fundraised and obtained grants, to the businesses in Tattenhall that sponsored the project, to the Parish council for their work and contribution, and of course the children who helped to choose the equipment and use it frequently.

Our third award was Runner up in the Best Kept Village Competition 2019. It was the first time for some years that Tattenhall, entered the competition and to get runner up in our category was a great credit to everyone involved. (Christleton were the overall winners).

This was another huge community project and we would like to thank those who supported our campaign which included litter picks and our successful 'Squirrel trail' raising money for the Air Ambulance.

Tattenhall, a wonderful place to live!
