The idea for a 'Drive-In' option was born during the Covid lockdown, and as soon as some restrictions were eased, the Ice Cream Farm put a contactless system in place so local people could still visit for a scoop of its famous Ice Cream, even though the main facilities were still closed.
Jonathan Fell, CEO, stated: "Our 'Drive Thru' during the pandemic was hugely successful, giving us confidence to think outside the box. But we didn't feel that a 'Drive Thru' delivered anything like the experience we wanted to provide for our ice cream customers, never mind the risks involved with juggling ice reams while driving! Hence the world's first Ice Cream Drive-In."
Mr Fell also explained that they had realised the Ice Cream Farm's focus and dedication on 'play', meant that the 'ice cream only' customer had been somewhat neglected. He added: "The Drive-In has been specifically designed for those customers who may not want the full 'play' experience, but still want to get out into the countryside to enjoy our award-winning ice cream.....and with a few farm animals for company".
The Drive-In feature is now a separate scenic spot at the Farm, and customers can drive in, order using a QR code, and the ice creams will be delivered by a golf buggy – customers then enjoying them in the comfort of their car. An area withdeckchairs has also been constructed; and cyclists and walkers can use the service too. Cool Dog is also on the menu for visitors accompanied by their dogs.
And this World's First is on our door-step! Well done to the Ice Cream Farm!
