With ITV showcasing 'Britain's Best Walks with Julia Bradbury' and with the Sandstone Trail, the backbone of Cheshire, featured just last night, it is unsurprising that walking is the UK top outdoor pursuit.
How could anyone have been less than impressed with the striking views from Beeston and Peckforton Castles, the tagged and listed Sweet Chestnut tree in Bulkeley Woods, the Tattenhall Runners in training up the railway lines short of the reservoir, the Rawhead Trig Point at 227m high and Harthill Village (heart of the Sandstone Trail), all of which were featured in the 30 minute broadcast.
Local enterprises also received a fantastic mention – Jonathan Fell's Ice Cream Farm, the 4x4 off-road Experience at Peckforton, Brian Mellor's award-winning Cookery School, the Bolesworth Estate Harthill Stud, the Mountain Boarding 'ELE', where 'everybody loves everybody' and finishing at The Pheasant Inn in Burwardsley.
How privileged we are to live in this fantastic spot on the Sandstone Ridge!
