David Bish, our local Tattenhall Poppy Appeal Co-ordinator, has asked us to bring the British Legion 'THANK YOU' Project to everyone's attention.

With just 100 days to go before the Centenary Anniversary of the Armistice on 11 November, the British Legion is encouraging the public to take part in the build up to the nation's remembrance.

The campaign has kicked off with a giant art installation which is located on London's South Bank comprising 8ft- high illustrated letters which spell out the words 'THANK YOU'. (click on image to enlarge).

The letters showcase a unique design by the acclaimed artist, Sarah Arnett. Her intention is to bring the legacies of The Great War to life. From the "Munitionettes" who served in weapons factories to Indian infantrymen who served on the Western Front; from schoolgirls farming the fields to renowned war artists such as Paul Nash; a collage of images honours the diverse contribution of the The Great War generation.

The installation will be on a regional tour and is scheduled to be in Liverpool on 22 August.

The planning of Tattenhall's commemorations are now finalised and we will start rolling out our event programme (with supporting articles) in the very near future.
