Butterfly Count 2020
The Annual Big Butterfly Count took place between July 17th and August 9th.
There were 45 Citizen Scientists who registered a total of 65 counts in the Tattenhall district – incorporating Tattenhall Parish and the Sandstone Ridge between Peckforton and Duckington – and 907 butterflies were identified.
The Top 5 Butterflies in our area were:
1. Small White 226
2. Peacock 166
3. Large White 164
4. Meadow Brown 67
5. Gatekeeper 66
although if any of the counts had occurred near my allotment then the two Cabbage White species would have been significantly higher!
