Welcome to my latest newsletter for residents of Cheshire.
I hope that you have been able to spend time with family and loved ones over the summer holidays.
Since my last update we have seen Cheshire Constabulary in national headlines, following the trial and sentencing of Lucy Letby. The nature and extent of her crimes have shocked and horrified us all, and I pay tribute to the many officers and staff who worked day and night to bring her to justice.
Over summer I have continued my work to tackle 'honour'-based abuse in Cheshire, and I have been out across the county to hear about how my community funding is making a difference.
Op Hummingbird
As with every story you see in the news, there is so much more that goes on behind the scenes. Delivering justice for Lucy Letby's victims and their families was the result of years of hard work by the Operation Hummingbird team and the Constabulary has produced a documentary here
Project Cherish
Through my Police Innovation Fund, Cheshire Constabulary has issued 3,000 seatbelt covers to neurodiverse children across Cheshire. The covers contain cards which will enable emergency responders to communicate with children who may be non-verbal or have other additional needs at the scene of an accident. Watch the video and find out more here. .
Savera UK Survey
Following a successful conference – details here.
Back on track
Through my Community Cashback Fund I have supported LiveWire's 'Back on Track' project – details here.
PCC's Awards
Last month I held an awards evening at police HQ – details here.
Disability Awareness
It was a pleasure to once again attend Disability Awareness Day alongside the police museum and local policing team. It's always great to get direct feedback from people about the issues affecting them and how as Commissioner I can bring different areas into focus for the Constabulary.
Thank you for reading this latest update.
