Traditionally Cheshire has been home to a successful dairy industry. This continues today but, pardon the pun, the horse racing industry has made great strides as well.

Close to Tattenhall we have two large racing stables, both with over 100 horses in training.

Manor House Stables in Hampton, founded by ex-England footballer Michael Owen and ex-Betfair founder Andrew Black, provides superb state-of-the-art facilities. Trainer Tom Dascombe and his team turn out a regular stream of winners, notably at local tracks Chester and Haydock Park, but also nationwide and abroad. Not to mention exciting winners at Royal Ascot and Goodwood from time to time.

Nearby in Cholmondeley, Donald McCain trains an impressive collection of talented jump racing (National Hunt) horses. The stable has had a Grand National winner and several winners at the Cheltenham Festival, following in the tradition of Donald's father, trainer of the legendary Red Rum.

Both stables have excellent websites – Manor House Stables and Bankhouse Stables

There are further Tattenhall connections. Mike Foster runs Deva Racing Ltd, which organises syndicates that offer a share in horses at both stables. Cheshire Equine Clinic's Matthew O'Donnell is Manor House stable vet.
