What a difference a 'Playground Committee' can make!!
The sun shone (more or less), the drainage was declared to be a total success, you arrived in your hoards and the work of many came to its natural conclusion with the official opening of the new Playground at the ParkFest Party which was held yesterday.
Without doubt, this state-of-the-art facility has already been a huge success with youngsters enjoying everything within!
After a short parade of children from Rookery Drive to the new Playground, Carys Manson was the lucky youngster selected to officially cut the red ribbon ... what memories are made of!!
Alison Pritchard, a pillar of our community in so many ways, gave quite the most fantastic 'Opening Speech' (well done Alison)!
And the fun ... pure fun! The children were competitive in the sprint, the egg & spoon and sack races and the parents were even more competitive it seemed in the tug of war competitions. Very territorial, with each side of the village competing against the other! The 'left' side (Spar side as opposed to Greenlands) were victorious in the men's and women's events!
The Mac Bros live musicians were brilliant.
The Letters 'out bar' amazing, with everyone enjoying a Pimms or two!
BUT a huge THANK YOU to all our sponsors whom we have mentioned, heaped praise upon and thanked many times over – this was the work of many and represents community engagement and support at its very very best. We thank you all.
Fun today but, importantly, for years to come.
A few snaps to enjoy (click on each to enlarge) – not the best perhaps but the Committee were too busy enjoying themselves ... and rightly so!!
Well done everyone.
