Fantastic news – there is a new pilates class at 'The Studio'.
Pilates is well known for the way in which it targets the deep postural muscles, building strength from the inside out, rebalancing the body and bringing it into correct alignment. It improves your posture too; helping you to achieve the perfect balance between strength and flexibility.
So, excitingly, we have a new 'Pilates Preparation Class' starting on Wednesday 26 August 5.45pm-6.45pm at 'The Studio'.
Places are strictly limited to 12 to ensure everyone receives individual attention.
This class is designed to help you learn the basic requirements for a beginners pilates mat class and consists of a six week course which then turns into a Level 1 mat class on Wednesdays at the same time.
What we cover:
* a brief history of Pilates
* the benefits of doing Pilates
* how to find neutral spine and pelvis
* how to control your breathing whilst exercising
* how to engage your core muscles
* what postural alignment is and how to achieve it
* how to release tight muscle patterns
* the importance of HOW you do the exercises
* some basic mat exercises
We also have spaces in other beginners' classes on Monday 11.15am, Thursday 5.45pm and Friday 11.15am – to join any of these classes you will need a 1:1 assessment in the first instance.
At 'The Studio' we use a unique structured series of class plans with six weeks at each level so that you learn all the basic mat exercises and gradually build up to the full mat sequence – the original exercises as done by Joseph Pilates
This ensures that you learn all the variations and, more importantly, that you understand when and why you need to adapt the exercises for your individual abilities.
At the end of each level we have a review class so you can see what improvements you have made and what you need to focus on in the future.
