You may have noticed that there will be no 'Green Bin Collections' until further notice.
The announcement, posted by CWaC, states ...
'All collections of garden waste will be suspended so that resources can be concentrated on maintaining a regular household refuse collection service'.
Might this provide the perfect opportunity to see less manicured gardens and the introduction of perfect conditions to preserve and support bees and other pollinators.
Pollinating insects include many different species of bees and other insects such as hoverflies, beetles, flies, butterflies and moths.
Pollinators are vital for food production and biodiversity and they face a range of pressures from habitat loss to pests and diseases.
Locations close to crops, hedgerows, meadows, woodlands and ponds are ideal for bee colonies, and we are fortunate to have all of these habitats in abundance locally. Nectar-rich plants and providing a diversity of habitats are crucial in supporting our pollinators.
