Do you have a small garden, or a small part of a bigger garden, that just does not work or could be better? Is it too boring or too much like hard work to keep it looking good all year round?

Maybe it looks great in April and May but fizzles out in the summer. Maybe the grass is pristine but you have nothing to look at above the ground. Maybe it's great when the ground is dry but a disaster when it rains and the Tattenhall clay becomes very apparent.

There is not a right or wrong in terms of garden design but if you only have a small space, it makes sense to have it working for you, your family and any pets. Is there anywhere to have that glass of wine or cup of tea on a pleasant day or evening? Could you make more of the walls, hedges and fences that are around the area and could play a proportionally bigger part of the garden than now?

Tattenhall local Alex Radley is a landscape architect and she can tell you all about the basics to be considered when coming up with your ideal garden. You cannot change where the garden is, or where the sun rises and sets in it, but everything else can be tweaked and improved, once you know how. Get it right, for your right reasons, and it will become your "go to" place.

Take advantage of Alex's wealth of expertise when she talks on February 14th at the Barbour Institute. 19.30 for 19.45 start.
