Many of you may have popped into the 'Tattenhall Clinic for Health and Wellbeing' – myself included since I am an absolute beginner in one of the Yoga Classes!

But sometimes it is interesting to peel back the layers and learn the story behind the face.

Lynn Owen, whilst relatively new to the village of Tattenhall, has worked as a health care practitioner for over 20 years and is a specialist in using acupuncture, herbal medicine and massage whilst also offering advice on nutrition and lifestyle choices. She is also a yoga teacher (oh, the wish to be more flexibile says this member of the Webteam); offering small group or one-to-one tuition.

Lynn studied Chinese Medicine in Reading, covering Traditional Acupuncture and Western Science. She then expanded her knowledge of Chinese Herbal Medicine with two further years of post graduate study. In addition, Lynn was also based for one month at a Hospital in Hongzhou, China, which offered traditional Chinese Medicine alongside Western Medicine.

All very interesting you might say but it is what happened next that really captured my imagination and made me consider that we should really run some stories on some of our local residents and entreprenuers.

So here it is .... Balata Camp is a refugee camp, located in the northern West Bank in Nablus City. It is here that Lynn volunteered with the 'World Medicine' team project, offering acupuncture in the refugee centre and working at the physiotherapy centre and the women's centre within the camp. 'World Medicine' is a non-political charitable organisation where Complementary Therapists offer their services to people who are experiencing trauma due to natural disasters or war and for whom there are very limited medical supplies.

Not content with that, Lynn also spent two years working for a 'Rehabilitation Centre' which offered acupuncture for people coming off drugs and alcohol.

Lynn is also a member of the 'Zita West Fertility' net-working group, specialising in natural fertility and acupuncture support throughout the IVF process (fertility specialist). Acupuncture is now used by many in support of the stages during pregnancy and in helping women going through the IVF procedures.

So, next time you are passing the 'Tattenhall Clinic for Health and Wellbeing' right here on the High Street in Tattenhall – consider the story behind the name and, in this case, think global!!

Our images give a flavour of life at the camp .... click on each to enlarge.
