Our 'Concern of the Week' relates to a small number of individuals who find the need to vent their frustrations on 'some' social media platforms such as Facebook. Regrettably, negative postings have the capacity to create further misunderstanding, resulting in further negative threads.

Using such platforms to criticise the work of committed groups of individuals and/or volunteers in our village is unpleasant and unhelpful. As a community we should be celebrating the unstinting efforts of our community volunteers throughout the village. They are often our unsung heroes.

TWiG (Tattenhall Wildlife Group) has been the latest target from some members of our community. Comments posted by certain individuals have not only been false, misinformed and factually incorrect, but have created threads which have led others to suggest that there is little confidence in this voluntary community group; that they receive grants for unfinished projects, and that individuals who hand out grants should take future note.

As Chair of TWiG may I draw everyone's attention to the unstinting efforts of TWiG volunteers over successive years (other than during the government restrictions imposed during the Covid lockdowns). Their work has regularly been celebrated on Tattenhall Online and other platforms – a small selection of their voluntary work is shown (click on each image to enlarge).

TWiG is grateful that some of the negative postings have now been removed by the appropriate administrator and that individuals have been reminded of the protocols when using social media.

To those members of our community who continue to support us and who give of their time freely and in all weathers – 'THANK YOU'.

As always, should you wish to join us in practical conservation work, then just drop us a line – we are listed under Directories on the Toolbar.
