The beautiful village of Tattenhall in Cheshire
Thom Morton: July 2016
To reduce the use of 3000 plastic bags weekly, we began charging 5p for single-use carrier bags on 7 June.
Following the deduction of reasonable costs, we are donating all proceeds from the sales of plastic bags to good causes; particularly environmental causes.
Tattenhall community voted overwhelming for TWiG (Tattenhall Wildlife Group) and they are the environmental group that Spar Tattenhall is currently supporting.
As promised, an update — TWiG will receive a cheque for 'June' for £238.84.
As a community you have substantially reduced the use of bags by more than half (ultimately it might even fall to zero) but currently this is a 'win-win situation' for our local community group TWiG and for the environment.
Well done everyone!
