SCHOOL IS CLOSED

Having published the article below and as this member of the Webteam was completing her 'health and well being' brisk walk around the village this morning, it was discovered that there was considerable disquiet in the village since pupils of The Park Primary School were turned away and that the school is closed. Parents, understandably, were shocked, alarmed and (frankly) cross, since, without pre-arranged childcare, they were now required to take a day off work to look after their children. One parent with whom I spoke had said that her employer was displeased and had stated that she would have to make up the missed time.

We will keep you updated because at the time of writing (10.29am), the school is still displaying information on its website that the school is 'open'. Greater communication with members of both the school and the wider community is clearly necessary. At what time the school made the decision to remain closed is unknown but any school website should be used to good effect.

Below is the article that we published at 07.25am this morning ....
We wish all students of The Park Primary School (new and old) a successful academic year as they go back to school this morning.

We also dispel the myth regarding whether the school would be open this morning (or not) because of the building works – it looks likely that works are scheduled to continue on site until the end of February 2018.

We print below the statement which has appeared on the school website this morning and which provides an update for all residents of Tattenhall.

School will be open as scheduled 6th September.

Pupil Entrances:
*Hall Door- Before and after school clubs (from 7.45am); reception, nursery and Year 2 children.
*Front Door (Main Entrance by school office)- Year 1 and Year 3
*Year 5 classroom door (via black gate from footpath)- Year 5, 4 and 6 children.
*Children's cloakrooms are now in classrooms.

Health and Safety of Pupils:
*Please be reassured that pupil safety is our highest priority, but works on site are scheduled to continue until the end of February 2018.
*Contractors will be separated from pupils during the school day using barricades (temporary walling) and Herras fencing. If essential access within school is required, contractors will be supervised by DBS staff.
*Temporary Herras fencing is being erected to ensure safe movement of pupils onto the school field and to ensure that children have a safe and secure play space during the school day.
*Please note that this is essential as there is very little play area on the playground'.
