The reward for braving the heavy showers recently were these views when the sun came out. They were taken from the Sandstone Trail on Bulkeley Hill .

Of special interest was the view of one of the telescopes at Jodrell Bank seemingly floating in the mist on the horizon, The Jodrell Bank Observatory hosts a number of radio telescopes, and is part of the Jodrell Bank Centre for Astrophysics at the University of Manchester. The observatory was established in 1945 by Bernard Lovell, a radio astronomer at the University of Manchester to investigate cosmic rays after his work on radar during the Second World War. It has since played an important role in the research of meteoroids, quasars, pulsars, masers and gravitational lenses, and was heavily involved with the tracking of space probes at the start of the Space Age.
The main telescope at the observatory is the Lovell Telescope. Its diameter of 250 ft (76 m) makes it the third largest steerable radio telescope in the world. There are three other active telescopes at the observatory; the Mark II, and 42 ft (13 m) and 7 m diameter radio telescopes. Jodrell Bank Observatory is the base of the Multi-Element Radio Linked Interferometer Network (MERLIN), a National Facility run by the University of Manchester on behalf of the Science and Technology Facilities Council.
In light of the coronavirus pandemic, Jodrell Bank Discovery Centre is now open as an outdoor-only attraction. The Centre's current message is: "We're delighted to have re-opened this important and much-loved site, but please note that we have made a number of changes in areas such as Tickets and Booking, Hygiene and Safety Measures, and Facilities and Visitor Experience. Jodrell Bank Discovery Centre is situated in Cheshire East, a Tier 2 zone. Please follow appropriate government guidelines relating to both our local restrictions and those of the region in which you live, when you visit us. Thank you so much for supporting us through this time and we hope to see you at Jodrell Bank very soon!"
