Last Saturday, the first team made the short journey to take on local rivals Bunbury CC in the first ever league fixture between the two clubs.
On being asked to bat first, Tattenhall slumped to 46 for 8 on a slow wicket where run scoring was difficult. Rob Okell was the only batsmen to hold firm at this point scoring 16.Skipper Roy Sandford joined Ben Cooke and with a mixture of fine shots and good running between the wickets forged a crucial partnership of 45 for the 9th wicket before Sandford departed for 26.A couple of lusty blows at the end took Tattenhall to exactly 100 all out in the 45th over with Cooke remaining unbeaten on a fine and crucial 38.
In response Bunbury initially started positively, putting on 20 for the first wicket. Then 16 years old Ethan Jai Evans took control, producing a devastating spell of opening bowling, reducing Bunbury to 27 for 4 with figures of 4 for 15 from 7 overs. There was no way back for Bunbury now as wickets continued to fall and they were eventually bowled out for 63 with Tattenhall winning by 37 runs. 2 wickets for Sadler and one each for Brock, Verity and Cheshire the other contributors.
The second eleven had a less good day. losing to Widnes by 145 runs
The 1sts are at home again this Saturday, against Barnton. Do come up to the club to watch some cricket and have a drink at the bar which will be open from 1pm.
