We will be back up and running in our new purpose-built location in 2021, in the meantime we are also going online with our interactive cookery sessions.

As we all know, 2020 has proved challenging and a combination of other factors means that we will not be reopening our school in the current location. Many of you have become friends since we opened in September 2011 and you will appreciate that since March it has been a difficult and emotional time. We have had to come to terms that as well as leaving behind a lot of fond memories, we are also leaving behind our investment and hard work.

That said, the great news is that the relocation brings with it much more opportunity for you and your loved ones to enjoy great food, drink and learning experiences. A little over two miles from Harthill is the lovely village of Tattenhall and at the heart of it sits The Bear and Ragged Staff, our new home, in fact we have already moved in, well partly.

We're All FiredUp @The Bear

In September we opened FiredUp @The Bear, our wood fired pizza take away which will also continue once we open the pub.

Our young local team are doing brilliantly mastering the art of hand stretching the dough, topping with authentic Italian ingredients, and baking them alongside a live roaring fire. The oven is built from reclaimed bricks from the pub underlining our intent to be as sustainable as possible.

The pub itself has now been stripped bare ready for a significant make over and we are targeting opening late spring 2021, we will keep you posted!

Upstairs @The Bear will open a little earlier than the pub, on our upper floors you will find the cookery school, a function / meeting room and 8 en suite bedrooms. The function room means that we can significantly extend our dine 'n' dems, food and beer matching events, private dining and chef is speaking to his culinary friends and roping them in for some guest chef evenings.

The bedrooms of course tie the whole thing together allowing guests to enjoy their evening, extend their stay and explore the surrounding area.

Grills, Courses & Gadgets

The partnership with Weber will not only continue but is growing with new grills, courses and gadgets added. Continuing the outdoor theme our popular wood burning oven and shovel steak sessions will be back as we enjoy the al fresco areas of the pub.

Speaking of partnerships, our relationship with Cheshire College South and West remains active. We continue to seek out learning opportunities for the students, particularly during their current challenges.

Construction students have been surveying the outdoor spaces at the pub and are now drafting up designs for the outdoor cookery area, we can't wait to see their creative work.

We'll be keeping an eye on government guidelines and the like but we will be publishing the course schedule for next year in the next few weeks. If your course was disrupted or delayed this year, we are looking forward to cooking with you in 2021.
