Poem for April by Pam Moyle
A Pond is Born
Shiny and wet, she's set,
waiting for life to write
on her blank page.
In spring frogs will come
bloated-bellied, bearing words
in jelly speckled letters.
Early day notes scatter;
chatter of birdsong, late spinney rooks
put them to score.
In summer sun, bee will drink;
dragonfly dart and dip
like pen in ink.
We'll help her grow, plant ideas
tall as reeds, round as kingcups,
in her margins.
Years of phrases, pages,
to fill till it seems
that she's forever been.
Here is a poem for April from the group. Painting by Beth Barlow.
