Yet another year has passed in the life of Tattenhall Online, and, again, we reflect on the year.
2024 has ended, very similarly to 2023, with what seems to be rain, rain and more rain, making several roads out of Tattenhall impassable to normal family cars.
This lovely village is a hive of activity with activity groups, action groups and events happening.
The U3A, Music Society, Gardening Society, Tattenhall singers, TADS, Film Club, to name but a few, as well as all the sports action at the Flacca, and activities at the Barbour Institute keep villagers active and engaged! We knit, we natter, we crochet, we chatter, we read, play bridge, walk, keep fit, do yoga and so much more.
Thanks to Transition Tattenhall, the village may be a little greener with the second birthday this year of the Repair Cafe and the recognition the village received due to recycling blister packs. Supported by our local councillor and the Parish Council, the number of packs collected has been huge, so there is a clear need for this type of recycling. Other villages are now following our lead.
The school eco project's have been supported by volunteers and funded by individuals and local businesses.
The start up of the Tattenhall Free Pantry, Tattenhall Cares and Tattenhall Kind shows the strength of community spirit within the village. Once again, throughout the year, local volunteers continued to make their mark, including litter picking, pond puddling, tree planting/pruning and all those unsung heroes who organise all of the community and social clubs which make Tattenhall such a vibrant place to live and work.
The local businesses that help us to look after our health, wealth and daily needs for food, care and entertainment. Many also support or sponsor a lot of the activities within the village. We thank you all.
Thank you as well to those who have engaged in the Tattenhall Advent Window Trail and all those who have lit up the dark winter nights with their festive displays!
It is wonderful to see so many of you returning to the Website and Facebook pages on a frequent basis and we thank you for your very positive comments, and urge you to continue to send us your stories.
Like you, we too are set to enjoy the holiday with family and friends and so the Editorial Team is also having a well-earned rest.
Unless there is some major ''breaking news' we will not be updating the Website between Christmas and New Year i.e. 25 December -- 1 January, however the Parish Council will be posting a view of activities over the past year in their "12 days of Christmas" articles. Look out for this as a reminder of the great things that have happened in the village during 2024.
One last thank you, to the five volunteers who work alongside me to bring you articles every day – you know who you are !
From everyone at 'Tattenhall Online' may we wish you a 'Very Merry Christmas and our Good Wishes for the New Year'. See you in 2025!
