Young People's Poppy Awards

On Saturday 10th February, four representatives from 1st Tattenhall Guides travelled to Wilmslow High School along with their Unit Leader for the Lord Lieutenant of Cheshire Young People's Poppy Awards.

This is an annual event to thank the young people of Cheshire for their help in selling Poppies and raising money for the Royal British Legion. Traditionally the awards are for the Army, Sea and Air Cadets but for the first time the efforts of other youth groups were recognised. 1st Tattenhall Guides were privileged to be among the first of these groups which included Scouts, Girl Guiding, Fire Cadets and Community College groups.

Other attendees were Lord Grey of Codnor, the President of Cheshire County Royal British Legion and Chris King, the Chairman of Cheshire County Royal British Legion.
Surprisingly, and sadly, Cheshire is the only county to do an award ceremony of this kind.
