Yet another scam

It's only a week since we reported a parking fine scam, but there's another one now doing the rounds (& I expect there'll be more).The text will appear looking much the photo at the top of this article.

We are warning residents not to respond to a text message asking them to submit a claim for winter heating allowance or winter fuel payments. The text message claims to be sent by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). It is fake and is part of a national scam.

The government don't send out text messages asking people to click on links to claim anything.

If you are eligible for the winter fuel payment it will be paid automatically, or through being accepted for a new claim for pension credit, which then makes you eligible.

Do not open the link and do not reply to the message.
