What's Happening at The Cascade? Update.

Some of you will have noticed the quite significant earthworks that are currently taking place at The Cascade, adjacent to Tattenhall War Memorial.

Long-term maintenance to the outflow under the High Street and at The Cascade (where the water leaves the Mill Pond) is in progress.

Like all things, this maintenance work had been delayed because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Whilst not directly related to the flood event earlier this year, maintaining both the dam and the top of the bund all contribute toward the excellent work already undertaken by the Environment Agency, TWiG and other partners, regarding Phase 1 and Phase 2A of flood mitigation in the district.

Once completed, and re-seeded, the wild meadows will return and look as glorious as most recently.

The old cast iron wheel was hauled out of the stream , a smithy is marked on an old map of this area, and the question is whether it came from there? Or what would it have been?
