Village show – tips for crafts & cookery

See the Schedule for details:

Crafts

There are no size limits.

Stage your handiwork to its best advantage and to minimize any minor defects – though the Judge will examine it closely! If you used any particularly skilful techniques, make sure that area will catch their eye.

Cookery

Where 3 items are required, try to get them as closely matched as possible in size, shape, decoration & colour.

If entering a single loaf (class 45), try for an even rise & good colour. If the recipe includes added seeds, fruit, etc, make sure it's evenly distributed through the dough. Any recipe, any size, any shape.

For the 'highly decorated' cake (class 46) it's all about the decoration – go mad and show us what you can do. The cake can be any size or shape and any kind of decoration.

For the 'Free from' cake (class 49) don't forget to include a label saying what the 'free from' allergen is. Some 'free from' recipes are easier than others, so adding the label helps the Judge to determine the skill involved. And how successful you've been!
