TRANSITION TATTENHALL Update February 2021

Meetings have been held in December and January.

We want to learn and build on what neighbouring groups have done so have been information gathering from comparable sized villages in other parts of the country as well as with Northwich and local Transition Networks. Contact and discussions have been held with a number of these groups which is informing our approach to a still very young initiative.

We will make the principles behind transition directly relevant to Tattenhall so there has been dis- cussion on the purpose /mission of the movement, and draft statements are being discussed. We are working to balance the major objectives, linked to the 20 United Nations Sustainability Tar- gets, that are involved in the transition to a more sustainable future. These targets tackle the three key issues of climate, economics and community resilience and we need to understand how they can be applied to Tattenhall. At present we are working to complete a draft mission state- ment to share so that we can engage with a wider community.

Whilst we are all constrained by the current Covid 19 restrictions we have struggled to balance the importance of planning, information sharing and direct project development. In that vein we want to get things going with some small projects to help connect with a wider representation across the village with the need to do something now; practical action, as an example of how 'transition' can be advanced here in our village. It was agreed that we would begin a project ap- proach and work up proposals for practical action that we can take on the short and medium term as well setting our sights on the larger, long term changes we will need to achieve. A number of 'action projects' are under discussion that might offer another way of generating interest and involvement towards the post covid environment. At present we are considering 20+ ideas and always welcome new participants to our now fortnightly zoom meetings.

We continue to work with the Youth Council who are already having a significant role in planning our future and we hope they will take an important lead on key initiatives. We have also begun to explore funding sources.
