The Sportsmans Arms has new residents and is once again serving food. There are two menus available -- one features traditional pub fare, such as burgers, steaks, lamb shank, curry and a broccoli-stilton pasta bake. The other menu is a reflection of the new publicans' ten years living in Greece, and includes halloumi with mediterranean vegetables, beef stifado and pork or chicken souvlaki, among other traditional Greek fare. On Sunday, traditional Sunday roast will be available.
Wendy, who runs the pub with her husband, is originally from Christleton, but spent the last ten years living in a small village in Greece. She says, "The Greek menu is based on village food, with strong flavors and fresh ingredients." A few lunchtime diners were sharing the halloumi stack and the lamb shank when I popped in and they declared the food delicious.
