As promised, we continue to update you on the flood prevention work that is taking place within the village.
The Environment Agency has moved some pretty impressive heavy equipment on site and adjacent to the Mill Brook.
Their first task has been to erect new fencing showing the new boundary of the site.
The old fencing and fence posts adjacent to the stream have been removed and the reed has been cut.
This work will allow the banks of the stream to be reduced so that in times of peak flow, water from the Mill Brook will spread out across the adjacent land, thereby reducing the impact of flood water downstream.
Sites for the 3 new dams comprising woody debris have been located and will be filled towards the end of the project.
We will continue to keep you posted after the Easter holiday.
