U3A Walking Group 9th January

Here are the details of our first walk of the year, being led by Jill Hughes, about 4.5 miles starting from the Lockgate Coffee House at Beeston.

Route: We walk along the canal towpath, through muddy fields and along paths and country lanes. There were about 6 stiles, 2 horses that totally ignored us, and it is mainly flat apart from one steepish uphill section. If we get much more rain before next Thursday, then I can do an alternate walk which substitutes most of the muddy fields with country lanes.

Direction to Start: To get to the Lockgate Coffee House, CW6 9NJ, take Tattenhall road, turn right towards Huxley, go right at the T junction there, then go straight through to Tiverton, at the junction with the A49 turn right and the café is just down the hill on the left before the railway bridge. There were signs of an imminent road closure in Tiverton, but not sure where. I'll monitor the situation, and let those walking know. We might have to go via Beeston.

We also plan to have refreshments at the café after the walk. You only need to bring a drink and whatever snacks you need for the walk.

Meet: Either meet at the carpark behind Alison's to car share in time to leave by 9.40, or at the Café carpark ready to start walking at 10.00
