U3A Walk on Thursday 23 August.

It now seems decidedly autumnal after the blistering heat .... hey ho, here are the details for this Thursday's U3A Walk.

We do ask that our walkers are members of U3A – it is only £15 annually and entitles you to take part in our varied programme of activities.

The August walk is approx 6 miles around Church Minshall. We will start and finish is at the 'Badger Inn' in Church Minshall. It takes in a stretch of the Shropshire Union Canal, followed by a mix of fields and roads. It is mostly flat with a number of stiles.

On the day we completed our trial run, there were a few cattle in two fields but they completely ignored us. The walk takes just over 2 hours and 30 minutes. Please bring a drink and a snack. We propose lunch at the Badger Inn afterwards. As always, we suggest meeting behind Alison's Cafe by 9:15am for a 10:00am departure or you can choose to meet us at the Badger Inn. The distance from Tattenhall is approximately 18 miles and takes 35 minutes – so please aim to be there at about 10.30am if you decide to choose that option.

Directions. Follow the A534 to Nantwich and follow the signs for Crewe, M6 etc. After the road becomes the A51, turn first left at the roundabout at Reaseheath College. This is the B5074 and is signed Church Minshall and Reaseheath College. Carry on to,Church Minshall and the Badger Inn is on the left just before the Church. Park in the pub car park.

The Badger would like an idea of numbers for lunch (offers good snacks as well as a full menu) so please let Jill know by Tuesday if you are staying at the Inn after the walk, and where you are meeting the group.
