The details of Thursday's walk are below but there are some new protocols regarding U3A. Anyone who would like to join us on future walks is now required to join our U3A group. This is because of insurance risks. We apologise if this causes some slight inconvenience -- for information our membership secretary is Hilary Scarratt and contact details are on the West Cheshire Rural U3A site

Although this is a longer walk, part of it lends itself to also being only about 2 miles by doing the first lap up towards Tarporley, then walking back along the canal from Wharton's lock. Please let me know if this is your choice.

Starting at The Shady Oak, Beeston, it is a 5 mile relatively level walk with 8 stiles. There were sheep in 2 fields, young stock in one field and a few cows in a third at the time we walked it. Be prepared for mud as some of the fields were very muddy and wet.

Park at the far end of the Shady Oak car park – refreshments will be available there at the end. Bring a drink and snack.

To get to the Shady Oak, Bates Mill Lane, Tiverton CW6 9UE take the Burwardsley Road out of Tattenhall. After about a mile turn left towards Beeston. At the base of the castle turn left, then left again towards Tiverton. After the hump back bridge over the canal the pub is on the right.

We plan to leave the car park behind Alison's Cafe at 9.40am and start the walk from the pub by 10.00am. Please let me know if you can come, and where you will meet.

As usual, please let me know if you can come and where you will meet since bad weather can result in a change of plan -- jillhug@ hotmail.co.uk or 01829 770634
