Next U3A meeting 2.30 pm January 20th 2022.

Linguistic imprints on the landscape are everywhere. As maps, roadsigns and addresses we use these labels every single day. But what do these place-name elements indicate? Join me to explore some of these age-old meanings which give us intriguing glimpses into the past but also help explain the present. In particular we will be looking at a selection of place-names in and The next West Cheshire Rural u3a monthly meeting will take place at the Barbour on 20th January. The speaker is Julie Smalley with a talk about – "Place Names in Landscapes, Pleasure, Pitfalls and Puzzles." The meeting opens at 2pm, the speaker presentation will commence at 2.30pm.

Update:

In view of the increase in the Omnicom variant of the virus we have put in place some things to help keep us as safe as possible.

€ We are asking all members attending to complete a Lateral Flow Test. If you feel unwell at all please do not attend the meeting.

€ To reduce the movements in the hall we have decided for this month to not have any refreshments.

€ This will enable us to dispense with the tables and give us more space to set out the seating in a more Covid friendly manner.

€ We will operate a one-way system. Please enter the main hall through the front door and exit by the rear door of the main hall (unless you need to use the ramp access by the main door).
