The life and vibrancy of our village is down to the combined efforts of many individuals.

One such individual is Ruth McPhillips, the retiring President of Tattenhall WI.

This member of the Webteam (though not a member of the WI) has many fond memories of Ruth during the last year and of her energy and passion for all things local.

In another time, Ruth would (without doubt) have been a Suffragette with their motto 'DEEDS NOT WORDS'.

So often, have I witnessed those sentiments.

During the 'Relocation of the Post Office counter service into Spar and then back to Pluto House', Ruth was instrumental in her rallying cry – she summoned our local MP, Antionette Sandbach, to the village and proceeded to remonstrate on the lack of joined up thinking on the part of the Post Office. Without doubt, Ruth's passion in delivering the village petition straight into the hands of our MP was a factor in achieving her objective!

The 'Clean for the Queen Campaign' also comes to mind with Ruth marshalling a host of willing (and perhaps less willing) volunteers to rid Tattenhall of its litter! Complete with placard and enthusiasm, Ruth mustered her troops to deliver her objectives!

Ruth has organised the quite splendid 'Bowling Competition' early this year, has been involved in the mind-stretching 'Bowling Quiz and Supper Event', has arranged 'WI Coffee Mornings' and together with Diana Barbour, Patron of Tattenhall WI, she has sought to increase the membership of this vibrant Tattenhall Group.

Well done 'Ruth McPhillips' – an inspirational woman!
