Cheshire West and Chester Council has a number of travel and parking initiatives to help the countdown to Christmas run smoothly for city shoppers and local businesses.

The Council is supporting Small Business Saturday on 2 December – by providing free travel on Chester's Park and Ride service from 12 noon.

Park and Ride services will also be extended during the festive shopping period. To coincide with late night shopping in Chester, every Thursday, from Thursday 16 November, the last bus will be at around 9pm instead of 7pm.

And, for the whole of the last shopping week before Christmas, from Monday 18 December until Friday 22 December, the last bus will also be approximately 9pm.

Chester shoppers parking at the Market Car Park are being encouraged to pop into the indoor market next door, to receive a £1 discount on their parking ticket. Simply scanning the ticket at a machine located in the Chester Market Hall will lead to £1 being automatically deducted from the cost of parking.

The Council is using this incentive to promote the diverse mix of small, local businesses to be found in the market, including the only fishmonger in the city centre, as well as award-winning butchers, great food and produce, nail bars, hairdressers, gifts and crafts.
