Tips for exhibitors for the Village Show.

The Village Show has had a fair number of changes to the judging team this year, with new judges for Flowers/ Pot Plants, Photography, Art, Cookery, Craft & Children's sections. It might be helpful over the next few days to pass on some tips about what they're looking for. Remember – ALL classes are open to children, but we do have a few special ones that are for specific age ranges only.

Always read the Schedule – there's general information at the front and check each section for any additional requirements:https://tattenhallgardensociety.co.uk/the-village-show-2023All these tips will also be available on the TGS website. Also on the Tattenhall Gardening society Facebook site.

Photography & Art sections first.

Photography

Keep to the maximum print size (but it can be smaller).

Mount them firmly and well ie not wonky or off centre and the card smooth and undamaged. The colour you pick can help as well, by adding emphasis to the picture.

We advise only entering one picture of each subject in the same class.

Sometimes a picture could be shown in more than one class and the Stewards will help you decide which class is best, if you want. But – if you decide to change the class you're entering after filling in the entry form, you must go back to the entries desk and tell them. Otherwise the Show Secretary's spreadsheet goes all to pot.

Art

Many works could be exhibited in more than one class so you may change your mind once you see the competition. As for Photography, if you decide to change the class you're entering after filling in the entry form, you must go back to the entries desk and tell them.

Our Judge will be looking for things which show some creative risk taking, are unusual in theme or process and communicate something interesting.

Skill in the person's chosen medium is valued, but the willingness to push things forward will also be valued. Something which talks about our lives here and now in Tattenhall is nice to see.
