Remembrance this year will be like no other.

Whilst we are currently in a nationwide lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the ceremonies that ordinarily take place in the lead up to 11 November are suspended.

That said, we applaud members of the Parish Council, St Alban's Church and their team of flower arrangers, our local Poppy Appeal Organiser, David Bish, Tattenhall Local History and others, who have done everything to raise awareness of Remembrance throughout our village.

With the Tattenhall War Memorial cordoned off for repair and maintenance, it is important to remember that our Horse of War and Poppy Sculpture (both at Millfield), our Silent Soldier (located near the Brierley Gate of the Church of St Alban's), our Commonwealth War Graves within the Churchyard itself, and our Historical Interpretation Panel (opposite the War Memorial), are all points of reflection within the village.

This year, The Royal British Legion is also encouraging people to stand on their doorsteps to mark the two-minute silence for Remembrance Sunday at 11.00am on Sunday 8 November.

The charity asks the public to 'still play your part from home'.

We include a number of spectacular images which were taken by resident, Keith Titchener, in quite splendid weather this week.

The efforts of many can be seen from the photographs – our thanks to you all.
