In this series, we spend 10 minutes talking to someone who lives or works in Tattenhall and share our findings with you.
Today, we're talking to Parish Councillor Norman Sharp.

How are you?

As well as can be expected for an 85 year old who thinks he's 25.
Where are you from?
I was born in Chester and lived there until I moved to Tattenhall
How long have you lived in Tattenhall?
I moved to Tattenhall in 1959 to work for LN Jones. The main reason was the tied house which came with the job and was very welcome as we'd just got married. When it became available, I bought the house from the company.
What do you like about the village?
Nice, quiet rural location, especially with my house beside the canal
What would you most like to improve in the village?
Basically, to keep the small village atmosphere but to improve facilities in line with the added numbers now in the village
Have you found any positive aspects of the Covid-19 restrictions?
Not really, with all the dangers of the pandemic and the job losses, but there is a need to get a grip on the costs
Who do you most admire, dead or alive, and why?
Sir Winston Churchill as I admired his determination.
You've volunteered to give up a lot of your time to be a Parish Councillor. What was the trigger for volunteering for this role?
I was co-opted to the Council 40 years ago in 1972 to represent the views of Newton-by-Tattenhall and the other hamlets around Tattenhall
What do you want to achieve as a Parish Councillor?
I've been Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Council and want to continue to look out for villagers and put forward their views.
What have you enjoyed most in this role?
Just being involved and helping people.
What do you do to relax?
When I get time, I like to do up old cars. In the past I have restored Aston Martins and Rolls Royces. Currently my project is a 1947 Wolsey 12/48 which was originally a 4-door saloon but I'm converting to a 2-door pick up.
Favourite Film, music, play or TV program?
Anything to help relaxation including band music, Abba and history programs
Who would you invite to a dinner party or a drink in the pub?
Family
If you could time travel, where would you go and when?
It would be nice to go back in time to correct mistakes with the experience of what actually resulted from decisions made.

Thank you for your time, Norman.
