Tattenhall Kind
Tattenhall Kind was 2 years old early in July 2024. We had intended to celebrate the anniversary then but got distracted by the Euros. Then the Olympics. Finally we've found time to celebrate, with you, the 2 year and 1 month anniversary of Tattenhall Kind.
We currently have 900+ members, with 1000s of items rehomed to 100s of locals. Anyone with a better understanding of Facebook might be able to see how many items/ posts there have been, but we've had to make do with counting the number of photos uploaded, over 1050!
The general principals remain the same :
* Donating unwanted items (less things going into landfill)
* Requesting/ sharing stuff (saving money, buying less stuff)
* Helping out (and being kind)
Of course, unless the transaction goes through Tattenhall Kind (via email tattenhallkind@outlook.com), we don't find out when items have been rehomed, but it seems that would mean extra work for all and the idea is to keep it as simple as possible.
Together, we've rehomed items for pets, gardens, kids, furniture, homewares, balloons, bikes, plants, clothing, tools, tech and electrical items, sporting goods, toys, toys and more toys, books, nappies, even hair dye! You name it, we've rehomed it. Borrowing wheelchairs and wallpaper removers have been popular, which is great for the temporary requirements.
Tattenhall Kind have also promoted several local causes, for example the blister pack recycling, the Free Pantry, initiated a school uniform swap, worked with Bolesworth to rehome items from the candle factory and unwanted office equipment, assisted with house clearances and generally celebrated kindness and environmental activities within the village.
And, of course, there has been kindness. No violations occurred, no mediations needed, any issues raised and resolved in a polite and kind fashion.
It's great to see people who have rehomed or requested stuff also offering items -- I did smile when the set of cake tins found another new home!
So, moving forward, how can we improve Tattenhall Kind?
Improvement
How you can help
More members
Tell your friends, family members, neighbours to join
More items rehomed
Items shared amongst more recipients
Always consider if your unwanted item could be of use to someone else. Anonymous transactions can be arranged via tattenhallkind@outlook.com, with a neutral collection/ drop off point available. Please only claim what you need, that way more people can give items a new home
Any feedback would be gratefully received ("Such a great site" -- recent message), or ideas of new initiatives, feel free to get in touch via email tattenhallkind@outlook.com. Here's to another 2 years and 1 month! Off now to get distracted by the Paralympics!
