First Work party of the Season
The first work party of the year was held at the allotments last Saturday.

The jobs to be done were:
- General preparation, weeding and pruning of 3 plots. The first photo shows the team preparing a small plot for the Sandy Bears Nursery and Playschool. It is hoped the youngsters will enjoy watching the development (and then eating) the currants and raspberries, as well as planting seeds and seeing them grow into tasty vegetables. The second photo shows two of our team providing a helpful hand for a member's plot which had got out of control.
- The third photo shows the fencing of the pond to make the allotments safer for the youngsters from the Nursery and for children of our members. Thanks to Martin Chalk for providing the equipment and know how.
- General pruning of brambles and the hedge boundary.
These tasks were accomplished thanks to the efforts of the team, who also managed to find time for refreshment and discussion as to their plans for this years' crops.
All we need now is some decent weather (and not too many slugs)!
