Managing to successfully dodge the showers on Tuesday morning, Barn Field received its annual cut with locally based contractor Paul Hellmers of PJH Outdoor Solutions completing the task swiftly and tidily.

In line with the management plan for this area, the field has been cut right on schedule i.e. mid/late August.

This small patch of unimproved grassland has been a genuine wildlife oasis during the summer months with wildflowers and grasses providing plentiful pollen and nectar for many species of butterflies, hoverflies, bees and other mini beasties.

The annual cut provides a basis for new growth next year with the distribution of seeds from the many types of grasses and wildflowers absolutely guaranteed.!

For newcomers to Tattenhall, this area of land is owned by the Parish Council and managed by TWiG (Tattenhall Wildlife Group) to enhance it's biodiversity value.

A new pamphlet holder has been attached to the interpretation panel adjacent to Barn Field and the panel washed down – be sure to take a leaflet and walk the Mill Brook Wildlife Corridor.

Glebe Meadow is scheduled to be cut later this week (weather permitting) – watch this space.
