Two Remarkable Events at Chester Cathedral

1st – 31st August 2024

A) Your Kaleidoscope,

a creation by British artist Liz West returns to Chester Cathedral, which features two of the artist's works – Presence and Hymn to the Big Wheel.

Known for her wide-ranging works which blur the boundaries between sculpture, architecture, design and painting, West creates works that are both playful and immersive.

People may recall West's stunning Our Colour Reflection which occupied the Cathedral Chapter House in 2018. Liz West is a British artist (b.1985) who graduated from Glasgow School of Art in 2007.

West's broad body of work encompasses wall-based artwork, sculpture, and site-specific installations. She creates vivid environments that mix luminous colour and radiant light, provoking a heightened sensory awareness in the viewer through her works.

Kaleidoscope is open Monday-Sunday, normal Cathedral hours.

B) Making Tracks IV.

Pete Waterman and the Railnuts are back after popular demand.

See part four of the world record holding Making Tracks model railway. This time Watford Junction from the West Coast mainline is featured in miniature with the 64 foot long railway.

Come along and have a go at driving trains for yourself.

Making Tracks is open from 1-31 August. Monday-Friday from 10am-5pm, Saturdays 10am-4pm, closed Sundays and 16 August.
