The Bluebells are out on Larkton Hill.

The bluebells are just coming into bloom, so this would be a good time to re-visit the free stroll to Larkton Hill.

Access : Drive to the Broxton Roundabout and turn left on the A534. At the top of the hill, turn right on the Old Coach Road. Turn left up a narrow lane just before there is a right turn to Meadow Lane. The car park is on the left at the top of this track.

Underfoot Conditions : A good path along the Sandstone Trial, with a some quite muddy places today, so wear appropriate footwear.

Length : About 1/2 an hour, plus any stops. Click on the images to enlarge

Route:
Please read the map detail. You are walking on land maintained by the National Trust and should respect their recommendations.

Exit the Car Park using the entrance you have just driven through, but turn immediately left at Position 1and proceed up the lane to Position 2 where you join the Sandstone Trail and turn right. On the left at this point is a Sandstone Trail route guide. You are proceeding towards Grindley Brook.

Turn left and then right at Position 3. If you had gone through the obstruction at Position 2 then turned right, it will be straight on at Position 3.

Continue along the Sandstone Trail keeping right at Position 4 until you get to Position 5. There are groups of bluebells either side of the track which give out a heavy scent at the moment and the most spectacular sight of bluebells are up the hill to the left of the Trail after this junction.

Turn left at Position 5 and proceed up the hill through Position 6 which steadily opens up the view to the south towards Shropshire and the Wrekin.

At Position 7 fork left downhill until you reach Position 4, where turning right will take you back to your starting point.

Enjoy the walk. If you are feeling energetic, you can combine with a stroll around Cuckoo Hill.
