St. Alban's Tower Open Day
Saturday June 8th 10am -- 2pm
The tower will be open as a fundraiser for the restoration work needed to be carried out to enable the bells to continue to ring for another 400 years. There will be an opportunity to go up to the bellfry to view the bells, three of which are the oldest dated bells in Cheshire. You could have a try at ringing a bell. There is a camera set up so that you can see what the bells are doing as we pull the ropes. Learn a little of the history of how the style of ringing known as change ringing evolved after the reformation and was carried across the world by the Anglican Church. Learn how bells are made.
All this plus refreshments!
