Spring Garden Opening at Bolesworth Castle

You're invited to enjoy Bolesworth's beautiful gardens this weekend! We're opening our gates on Friday 10, and Saturday 11 May 2024 as part of the National Garden Scheme (NGS).

All proceeds will go to the excellent charities supported by the NGS – including Marie Curie, Macmillan Cancer Support, Hospice UK and more. Children aged 12-16 are free (the walk is too challenging for younger children), andwell-behaved dogs on leads are welcome (please pick up after them).

We regret that our garden and walks are inaccessible to wheelchairs or buggies.

What to expect on your walk

New paths have been created, and original stone features have been restored. The visit will take you up the Bridge Walk before climbing to The Rock Walk, continuing through the castle gardens, and rounding the lake.

A single loop will see you reach 10,000 steps!

Established by Anthony Barbour in 1986, The Rock's woodland garden stretches for half a mile along the sandstone outcrop above the castle. It offers unparalleled panoramic views of Cheshire, North Wales, and Merseyside. The garden is planted with Rhododendrons, Camellias, Azaleas, and many more spring plants. New paths have been made, railings put in place, and the 19th-century stone features restored.

After completing your walk, The Lost Barn Coffee Roasters will be on hand to sell soup, tea, coffee and cake.

Separately, the garden will be open for by-arrangement visits from mid-April to the end of May for groups between 10 and 40. Please contact us for more information.
