Fantastic news from Thom Morton at SPAR on the High Street.

Many of you will know that since the launch of the single-use plastic bag initiative by SPAR, not only have the monies raised supported TWiG (Tattenhall Wildlife Group) in their valuable conservation work within the village but they have also provided wooden bench seating for the new Tattenhall Playground.

Well, the great news is that Thom is re-launching the plastic bag initiative for 2018 and details will be posted early in the New Year.

The volume of plastic bags and plastics generally has never been more high profile. For those of you that are new to Tattenhall or who didn't pick up on this feature previously, SPAR charges 5p for single-use plastic carrier bags. This action is purely voluntary on the part of SPAR and, following Defra's guidelines on the deduction of reasonable costs, SPAR Tattenhall has donated all the proceeds to good causes, particularly environmental causes.

Thom will be placing a suggestion box in store in early January and will request that Tattenhallers nominate a local environmental organisation or local project which sits sympathetically with this initiative..

Watch this space, we will keep you updated.
