Antoinette Sandbach MP is encouraging local schools, churches and organisations in Eddisbury to get involved with the charity campaign, Singing for Syrians. Now in its third year, Singing for Syrians raises money for those most affected by the ongoing crisis in the region, encouraging people to sing together in an expression of solidarity against extremism and terror.

Singing for Syrians' success lies in its simplicity. Local organisations, such as schools and churches, can get involved in any way they like; whether it's organising their own event or just passing a bucket around, everything is welcomed. Last year there were over 100 Singing for Syrians events, which raised over £140,000 for worthy causes in the region. Money has gone towards paying the salaries of doctors in Aleppo, establishing a nursery in Idlib, and funding a prosthetic limb clinic on the Turkish border.

Locally, Chester Cathedral has supported this initiative over the past two years and will again be holding a carol concert on Sunday 17th December at 3.30pm.

Antoinette Sandbach MP commented: "Singing for Syrians is a fantastic initiative that I am very proud to support. It is a positive way of helping Syria's most vulnerable people, whose lives have been ruined by the civil war, and has already made a real impact in the three years since it first started. I am encouraging everyone in Eddisbury to get involved as much as they can – every contribution goes directly where it is needed most so even the smallest of events can make a big difference."
