Road and Traffic Disruptions for Royal Visit – Thursday 14 June

It might be that some of our readers need to consider avoiding Chester City Centre or re-think their journeys to work on Thursday 14 June as there will be considerable disruption during the visit of Her Majesty The Queen and the Duchess of Sussex.

These are the published temporary traffic regulation disruptions:

The Order will prohibit all vehicles on the following lengths of road on 14 June 2018 between 9.30am and 5pm:

  • Upper Northgate Street between George Street and The Northgate
  • Northgate Street, between The Northgate and Eastgate Street
  • Hunter Street, full length
  • Princess Street, between Northgate Street and Hunters Walk
  • Hunters Walk, full length
  • St Werburgh Street, full length
  • Eastgate Street, full length
  • Foregate Street, between Eastgate Street and St John Street
  • St John Street, full length
  • The former Lower Bus Exchange, west of Hunters Walk

The Order will also prohibit pedestrians on the following lengths of footway on 14 June between 9.30am – 5pm

  • Northgate Street (west side) the entire width of the footway between Hunter Street and Princess Street
  • City Walls at the Northgate, from Northgate steps to Water Tower Street

The Order will also prohibit waiting and loading/unloading of vehicles on both sides of the following roads from 6am until 5pm on that day:

  • Upper Northgate Street between George Street and The Northgate
  • Northgate Street between The Northgate and Eastgate Street.
  • Hunter Street, full length
  • Princess Street, Northgate Street to Hunters Walk
  • Hunters Walk, Full length
  • St Werburgh Street, full length

Other than as detailed above, pedestrian access to all premises situated on or adjacent to the roads will be maintained at all times.

The promoter of the civic event is Cheshire West and Chester Council.
