We seem to be surrounded by stories of climate change and destruction of the environment., Extinction Rebellion, Greenpeace action, Greta Thunberg have all hit the headlines, plus all those TV programmes, Blue Planet and War on Plastic.

We now must all be clear that the damage done, and continuing to be done to our world, its air, sea ,and soil, is heading towards a level of destructiveness that will effect how we and the future generations manage to sustain life as we currently live it on the earth.

To alter this trajectory will require many practical changes and as yet undiscovered innovations to the way we use resources and consume the limited materials we need, to live a reasonable life.

The problem remains for each of us "what can we do?' How can we make change happen?

Ashton Hayes for many years has been working toward a low carbon target, Chester is working towards a plastic straw free zone.

How can residents of our village begin to turn the tide and contribute to what will need to be a global effort? Bear in mind that individual actions done by many build up and have major effects.

Change attitude, change habits and reduce our own individual impact on the world we live in.

ATTITUDES

What is our own personal attitude to the need to conserve, preserve and not destroy our environment .

HABITS

Do we need to have more 'things'? Are we consuming more because we need it or because it's just what we have always done.
Say no to consuming just for consuming's sake.

CHOICES

Say yes to to living more lightly on the planet .... `say no to plastics and polluting materials.
Use your own bags, complain to supermarkets about their reliance of single use plastic.

Fortunately it seems the Cheshire West and Chester council send our recycled plastic waste to a processing plant in Shropshire. So you can continue to recycle and feel that you are doing the right thing.
